Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine, often forming an "S" shape. If you do show signs of scoliosis, your chiropractor can provide a variety of techniques to help your condition, including spinal adjustments to increase movement and biomechanical function, and advice on posture and exercise to help prevent further increase in the problem.

Activator Methods
In the late 1960's, this revolutionary chiropractic technique was developed to improve safety and comfort for chiropractic patients. Since then, the technique has grown to be the most widely used "low force" chiropractic technique in the world. The Activator Technique incorporates the latest advances in orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic examinations along with a unique system of administering spinal adjustments. Using the Activator analysis and the Activator instrument, your chiropractor can help restore spinal balance, safely and comfortably. ¹

Doctors of Chiropractic receive extensive training in the Activator Technique. This method is also one of the most scientifically researched techniques in chiropractic. ¹ For more information on the Activator, visit www.activator.com. For specific questions, visit our FAQ page.

The Activator Difference
One of the goals of the Activator method is to restore your spinal health and body mechanics safely and effectively. This technique utilizes specific procedures to detect spinal joint dysfunction, detect body mechanics problems, and to test neurological reflexes. With these tools, we can begin the process of restoring your overall spinal balance. ¹

The Activator instrument delivers a controlled, light, and fast thrust, without causing undue strain to patients. Activator adjustments are so quick and controlled, your body's muscles are less likely to resist, allowing for a more precise and exact adjustment. ¹

About Chiropractic
The modern Chiropractor works both directly and indirectly with the nervous system. Every function of the body is under control of the nervous system. Every organ, tissue, and cell is controlled by nerve impulses traveling from your brain to all parts of your body via the spine. Nerves make possible all sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing, and also maintains balance. The nervous system is in a sense the master system, which controls all the other systems of the body including reproductive, digestive and respiratory.
When vertebrae become misaligned through injury or posture problems, they interfere with the normal function of the nerves. This misalignment in turn causes pain and malfunction. The objective of Chiropractic care is to determine, through x-ray and examination, the exact degree of spinal misalignment. Proper adjustments are given to correct these misalignments and thus remove the cause of pain or discomfort. The SPINE DIAGRAM will allow you to view specific regions of the spine and how the nervous system affects the body through each area.
